Printed edition of a paper read at the Bishop's Palace on 7th June 1910 of Archdeacon's Lear's reminiscences of 'the state of things in the Church 80 years ago and the years that follow.' Includes references to: heating; residenciary of the dean and canons; regularity of sermons; notes about the parish churches of the Salisbury - St Thomas,' St Edmund's and St Martin's; notes on the parochial schools on Salisbury - St Thomas', St Edmund's and others; acts of Bishops Burgess, Denison, Hamilton, Moberly, and Wordsworth. On the last page a newspaper cutting regarding a memorial to the last Archdeacon Lear is pasted. There are occasional notes by Christopher Wordsworth throughout. 'With affectionate regards' inscribed on the front cover.
