Description
Copy of Letters Patent of Henry VIII, on paper in a seventeenth century hand, endorsed on the reverse, "A Coppie of Acworth and Butlers letters patent for Lancott only".
By the original Letters Patent, Henry VIII granted the Manor of Longcott and East Forcell in the parish of Winfrith Newburgh, Dorset, forrmerly belonging to Bindon Abbey, to George Acworth and Edward Butler.
The Letters Patent were sealed by Henry VIII on 24 December. The regnal year is unclear, but could be 31, which would date the original document to 1539, the year of the suppression of Bindon Abbey.
