Description
A drawing or etching by Laurence Whistler on black card (210mm x 175mm) with a paper cover labelled, "Right hand side. First idea for r.h. panel for Booker girls memorial (reflected window in a chapel)".
The image appears to show a stream of light projecting an image of an etched window onto a wall and flagged floor, next to a plaque reading "In gratitude for Joanna and Cly". A male figure sits in a pew, head in hands, leaning on a prie-dieu.
Texts from T S Eliot's Four Quartets, quoting words from Revelations of Divine Love by Julian of Norwich, are included above and below the image.
"Cly" was the family name given by Joanna Booker to her younger sister Serena, after Clytemnestra in Greek legend.
