Description

Document dated 10 January 1938 creating Rev Edgar William James Hellins (Rector of Marnhull, Canon and Prebendary of Grimston and Yetminster, Proctor for the Clergy of the Diocese of Salisbury in the Convocation of Canterbury, Editor of the Chronicle of Convocation) a Doctor in Divinity. By authority of Cosmo Gordon Lang, Archbishop of Canterbury, and under the Seal of the Office of Faculties of his Grace of Canterbury, together with Letters Patent, dated 21 January 1938, of King George VI in confirmation thereof, and the Great Seal of King George V. The documents and seals are housed in a bespoke red leather-covered lockable box lined with red velvet and with the royal arms embossed in gilt on the top, stamped "John Peck & Son 7, Nelson Sq, Southwark, S.E.1 Manufacturers to H.M. Staty. Office".
