Description

Grant of Seisin, whereby Bernard Fabian and his wife Agnes convey for £40 to Henry Campyon, Citizen of London, Mercer, five messuages, or shops, in St John's Street in the Parish of Saint-Sepulchre-without-Newgate, London. Seisin was effected on 22 Dec 1570. The Deed recites a history of previous transactions involving these properties, including purchase from Sir Edward Capell (son of Sir Giles Capell, a member of Henry VIII's retinue at the Field of the Cloth of Gold, 1520) by Mary Nevill, née Evans (9 Mar 1533), and sale by her and Robert Oldham, Brewer, and his wife Frances (daughter of Mary Nevill) to Barnard and Agnes Fabian (2 Sep 1564; the Deed of which transaction is MSS/0650/034 of the Society of Antiquaries of London).
