Description
A custom-made bound hardback book, 300mm x 215mm, with red leather spine and corner reinforcements and marbled paper covers. On the spine in gilt lettering, "SALISBURY CATHEDRAL STONE SPONSORHIP". 12 numbered single-sided pages, with a further 21 unnumbered single-sided pages.
The numbered pages record sponsorship of stones in various areas of the Cathedral, by numbered "MRA" (Major Repair Area), thus:
North Aisle of the Prebytery (MRA 9) (pages1-5)
South Presbytery Aisle (MRA 5) (pages 6-11)
East End - Phase 2 (MRA 5), Phase 3 (MRA 4 & 6) (page 12).
The unnumbered pages are introduced on numbered page 12, thus: "And so to the final phase of the Major Repair Programme . . . . .".
The entries record for each sponsor, in headed columns: Name; Date; Stone Type; Donation; Carving; Location of Stone (pages 1-5); thereafter, the "Donation" column is omitted (pages 6-11). From page 12 onwards there is again no "Donation" column, and on page 12 and the first to the eleventh unnumbered pages the "Location of Stone" column is blank. On the twelfth to the twety-first unnumbered pages the "Location of Stone" column is completed. On the eleveth unnumbered page and thereafter the "Carving" column becomes "Initials to Carve".
