Description
Letter from Peter Hoskins to Dr Barnston regarding a debt owed by Robert Pinckney, Hoskins' landlord. The main body of the letter reads as follows: 'Reverend Sir I understand from my landlord Mr [Robert] Pinckney, that a certen porc[i]on of mony is required of him, towardes the reparac[i]on of the Churche of [Sarum], [?and] for payme[n]t [thereof], he hath writen unto me, to pay unto yo[ur] Worshipp, or some one of the [……] the some of Ten poundes at Michellmas next. And that he hath left his [?acquittance] w[ith] the Chapter to be sent unto me uppo[n] paymen[]t thereof. And [within] twenty daies after Michellmas day or before if I can Collectt it of the [?Tenants], I will not fayle to pay unto [you] uppo[n] his [?acquittance] the some of Ten poundes.' Also 'Langdo[n] the [12th] of June 1624.' The reverse is annotated with details of the letter, including: 'Relates to money given to the Fabric'; 'Langdon'; and (faded and difficult to make out) '[...] the [?worshippfull] [......] [.....] at his howse in the Close in Saru[m] [.....]'.
