Description

Letters Patent of Edward III giving a licence to the Dean and Chapter, at the request of the King's chaplain and almoner, Walter de London, to fortify and crenellate the Close wall of stone and lime. Given at Nottingham. This document has incorrectly been identified in the past as an issue of Edward I and dated 31 August 1273. It is though an exact copy of of FG/4/26, (Letter Patent of Edward III dated 31 August 1327), and is probably a copy of that document. Walter de London was chaplain and almoner to Edward III.
