Description

The King grants that the Dean and Chapter of Salisbury shall take the tithes of hunting in the Forest of Clarendon without any impediment from his bailiff, according to the tenor of charters and confirmations exhibited by said Dean and Chapter. Given at Lyndhurst. Very similar to FG/4/6. An additional two slips of parchments are attached, containing memoranda. The first one records: (1) that the charter is registered in the book "de memorandis Gargerobe" which is in the custody of the supervisor of the counter-rolls on the 20th day of September at Bristol. (2) and that it is recorded there that on the last day of August 1293 this charter was viewed at Clarendon and 12 beasts of chase were delivered to the Dean and Chapter in the name of tithes. (3) that on 10th and 12th September, Edward II, 1320, similarly five beasts and four beasts were handed over for the Dean and Chapter. The second records that in the week following the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Tgomas le [Bloune], then Steward of the Household delivered 11 beasts, at Clarendon, for the Dean and Chapter as tithes.
