Description
Six fragments of accounts, listed as 'bits and pieces of 17th c accounts' by the paper catalogue. The handwriting is not the same throughout so they may not belong together, but I have left them as found. The first fragment (marked '4' and '23' in a modern hand) is the bottom part of a third roll, and the names of the signatories suggest c1628 to 1645. The second fragment (marked '6' and '23' in a modern hand) looks like a receipt for Dean and Chapter pensions, and is probably in English although the left side is missing. It is endorsed 'The Complaint of Thomas Clifford Vicar of Overton (there is a document in the National Archives relating to Clifford dated 1613, STAC 8/100/19). The third fragment (marked '7' and '23' in a modern hand) shows commons and stipends. There is no indication of date but it refers to the King so probably post 1603. The fourth fragment (marked '3' and '23' in a modern hand) is the right hand side of some accounts [from Apr] to 30 Jun 1640. The fifth fragment (marked '2' and '23' in a modern hand) seems to be the right hand side of accounts, nd. The sixth fragment (marked '5' and '23' in a modern hand) might be the fourth roll (Jul-Sep) as there are accounts on the back which might be for incerti receipts.
