Description

Ink drawing, signed "E Wickens", showing some ten choristers, a verger and four or five other figures, one of whom is raising his hat to two of the choristers, variously disposed in the Nave of Salisbury Cathedral, by the last pillar before the Great Crossing, looking towards the South Transept. One or two of the figures shown in the South Aisle. In the right foreground, the tomb of William Longspee (d 1226). In the background at left, the tomb of Bishop Richard Medford (d 1407). Set in a possibly contemporary or near-contemporary mount, showing some foxing and staining, with traces of glue to the back.
