Description

Ink and watercolour drawing, being a view to the west in the North East Transept of Salisbury Cathedral, showing at the base of the west wall part of the remains of the original thirteenth century stone pulpitum, or quire screen, removed here by James Wyatt in 1789 and, to the left, the fifteenth century screen and door to the North Quire Aisle. One arch of the North Quire Aisle, and part of the triforium and clerestory of the North East Transept also shown. A group of four figures standing by the screen. Set in a possibly contemporary or near-contemporary mount, showing some foxing and staining, with traces of glue to the back.
