An A5 "Challenge" notebook with marble-effect blue hard covers. Pasted to the inside front cover is the following note: 'The SPIRE HANGING was made between July 1985 and December 1987 in approximately 3,000 working hours, by THE SARUM GROUP, to raise money for the Spire Appeal. Visitors signed the interlining and gave £1. This book is a record of their signatures. The Hanging was presented to the Dean and Chapter in December 1987, and it is hoped that through exhibitions it may help raise further donations to the Appeal.' There then follows the names of the following embroiderers: Eddie Fenwick, Margaret Hague, Jennifer Harison, Gillian Henderson, Jane Lemon, Meg McConnell, Ann McIntyre, Belinda Montagu, Catherine Talbot, Pat White, Adrianne Woodfine. At the back of the book is a separate list of those who donated £5 to also receive a photograph.
