Description
Small ring binder used to record the location/contents of the library display cases. At the beginning is an index with the title of each book, manuscript, archive document, seal or other object together with the corresponding page number in the ring binder. The following pages record details of books and manuscripts according to the name of the case. The case order is as follows: Case E, Case C 'opened by key with 3 niches'; 'Brass bordered case fastened to the table' [containing Magna Carta], Case [no letter or description], Case B [containing MS150 note re service for the Boy Bishop at f35], Case G [containing MS150], Case [no letter or description], Case D. In many cases each entry is accompanied by detailed notes of the of relevant historical and/or provenance information relating to that item. Also included is a list of Dean Bayle's books donated to the library in 1669, contents of box labelled 'Dean' in the Muniment Room, and details of medieval ink. There are several blank pages at the back of the file. One loose sheet labelled 'Dr [Elsie]Smith' records a short list of clothing.
