Description

These notes by Christopher Wordsworth begin with a history of the donation of the book to the Cathedral library: '19 Sept 1928 Canon Dundas handed to Chr Wordsworth a quarto volume, rescued by Mr W Kersley Holmes who was staying at 17 Stanhope Street, Glasgow. The book had been left with his sister Miss Olive Holmes by a friend who had gone to India and its contents had been pronounced by booksellers to 'have no value in the market;' but Mr Holmes thought that it might be found to have some local interest for Salisbury and kindly offered it for the Cathedral library'. The book contains: pages from the 1615 quarto edition of Bishop Francis Godwin's Catalogue of the Bishops of England, portion of Rev T Cox's Magna Britannia relating to Wiltshire with map and engravings.
