Description
An account by Wordsworth of Salisbury's Magna Carta. It begins with the following reference to a photograph believed to be either IM/285 or IM/212.1 and IM/212.2 'The accompanying photograph, taken by Mr henry Messenger, Clerk of the Fabrick of Salisbury Cathedral Church, is an exact reproduction of precisely the same dimension as the original document, measuring 17 and a quarter inches in length by 14 inches in width, and now deposited under glass in the Cathedral Library. Wordsworth describes the historical context of the charters distribution to Salisbury as well as the reasons why it was not references in the Statutes of the Realm, 1800-1812, description of the Lincoln and British Library exemplars.
