Description

A collection of letters and notes originally kept by Christopher Wordsworth together in one folder. Contains: letter to Elsie Smith from A I Doyle, University Library Durham concerning MS103 Jacob's Well (28 Aug 1955); note of the provenance of two manuscripts ('Lusus Sarisberienses' a collection of Greek and Latin epigrams compiled by Hugh Stephen and an 1813 common place book previously belonging to Rev Edmund Benson); letter from Bertam Colgrave re the Fell manuscripts (28 Feb 1926); unidentified notes re 1495-1498 - possibly relating to the loan of books; notes of Sir Christopher Wren's report as printed by Dr T Ralinson's 'History and Antiquities of Salisbury and Bath, 1723'; brief notes on Jenkinson (Cambridge University Library), Lakin's catalogue, the Catholicon and Caxton fragments, and others; notes and references re the Cathedral history; letters from, and notes, on bindings in the Cathedral Library, by J D Oldham (1931); notes on ZC2.6.2, a fragment from a Latin Psalter, the bottom corner of a musical service book and others; list of monastic and cathedral libraries compiled by Dame S Josephine Chichester and sent to Christopher Wordsworth in Nov 1929 together with two letters from Dame Chichester (Oct 1929); manuscript music re 'King Alfred's Hymn'.
