Letter addressed to "Rev'd Mr Gilbert In Exeter Devon" from Francis Purchase, Dorchester. Robert Gilbert held the Prebend of Alton Australis from 1749 until 1753. Purchase has been told that "the north Part is lett for about Two hundred Pounds a Yeare & that the whole Parish . . . is worth something more than Fower hundred a Yeare"; "its all now in hand Except Two Tenements".
