Description
Designs for Winchester Cathedral, with tracings and graph charts. In a Spithover envelope are tracings for transfers by Deighton's, a few pages of designs from Early Inlaid and Keyed Tiles, and a family tree for William I and Matilda of Flanders 1066-87 that runs to Edward III 1327-77. In a pouche and folder are designs of Magna Carta, the Charter of Henry III, 1270, the Masons, or depict birds, dragons, stag and dogs, and so on. There are designs from a 10th century Psalter and 10th century Lent Tiles. There is a collection of Winchester Designs, by Miss Louisa Pesel and her designer, Miss Sybil Blunt - large loose photocopies that depict central designs or borders or corners. Some include instructions, and some carry the names of embroiderers, perhaps with a date.
