Welcome to Salisbury Cathedral’s library and archives on-line catalogue. Here you can browse and search many of the thousands of books and documents dating from the medieval period onwards which form part of our rich heritage and history.
This catalogue is our first electronic catalogue – until now information about the books and documents has only been in printed and hand-written formats. As the library contains over 10,000 books and the archive many tens of thousands of documents it will be some time therefore before everything is available in this online catalogue. If you do not find what you are looking for here then please do contact us. In particular please note that the library's collection of manuscript books is not currently included in this online catalogue; although a catalogue is available here.
You can find out more about the history of the Cathedral’s library and archive collections on the Cathedral’s main website under the heading 'Magna Carta & Collections’ where you can also read the library and archive blog.
If you wish to consult a particular book or document please see the link below - Visiting the library and archives - for more information. If you have a general interest in the library and archives you are very welcome to attend our regular events focusing on the collections. These include: spotlight talks, occasional free library open afternoons as well special events. You can also book a place on our monthly specialist library tours followed by a cream tea - for further information please see the events section of the Cathedral's main website.
This online catalogue has been made possible by the generous funding of a number of grant giving organisations. We are very grateful to have received generous funding from the National Heritage Lottery Fund. The majority of the photos were taken by Ash Mills photography.
