17th-century mottled brown calf over paper boards (paste board); sewn on five supports; boards decorated with gilt fillets forming two concentric rectangular frames, with gilt fleurons at outer corners of inner frame; spine with five raised bands; gilt fillets and rolls; brown leather spine label with author and title; date 1670 in gilt at tail of spine; text block edges sprinkled red and blue.
