17th-century sprinkled brown calf over paper boards; sewn on four supports; boards decorated with blind fillets forming rectangular frame towards perimeter of boards, with additional vertical blind fillets towards spine; spine with four raised bands and blind fillets, later gilt fillets; author and title written in ink at head of spine; leather spine label with author and title; date 1650 in gilt at tail of spine; gilt roll around board edges; text block edges heavily sprinkled red.
