Salisbury Cathedral Library bookplate (19th century) with 13th-century Dean and Chapter seal and inscription “Sarum Cathedral Library.”

Binding

German or Dutch? 17th-century dark brown calf over wooden boards; sewn on four supports; boards decorated with blind fillets and rolls forming concentric rectangular frames, with central panel divided into three (one large rectangle, with smaller rectangles at top and bottom); spine with four raised bands; leather spine label with author and title; date 1607 in gilt at tail of spine; remains of two pairs of clasps at fore-edge; evidence of chain-plate at fore-edge of lower board.
