Salisbury Cathedral Library bookplate (19th century) with 13th-century Dean and Chapter seal and inscription “Sarum Cathedral Library.”

Binding

17th-century dark brown calf over paper boards; sewn on five supports; boards decorated with blind fillets forming rectangular frame towards perimeter of boards, with blind stamps at inner corners; spine with five raised bands, and gilt fillets; spine labels with titles of the four items in the volume; date 1659 in gilt at tail of spine; gilt fillet around board edges; text block edges sprinkled red; evidence of chain-plate at fore-edge of lower board.

In this copy, two of the unnumbered leaves of plates, the first signed "E" are bound between leaves 13 and 14 (i.e. between D1 and D2); the remaining six leaves of plates, two of which are signed "E2" are bound between leaves 14 and 19.
