Description

Charter of Henry III in which he grants to Richard Bishop of Salisbury and his successors forever a fair at Suthbrom' [Southbroom] outside the town of Devizes, every year, lasting for four days, viz on the eve and the day of St Dionisius and for two days following. Witnesses: Eustace Bishop of London, Josceline Bishop of Bath, Martin de Patesh', Robert de Lexint', Thomas de Muletun', William son of Warin', Osbert Gifford, Ralph son of Nicholas, Richard de Argentom', Godefrey de Crawecumb, stewards Henry de Aldithel and Henry son of Aucher. Given by the hand of Ralph Bishop of Chicester, Chancellor, at Westminster. Decorated initial letter 'H' and three others.
