Caption on the reverse reads: 'Ageing Glory' Salisbury Cathedral England is now locked in a 10-year battle with the death-watch beetle and wet and dry rot in the 700 years old timbers of its 404ft spire. 10 American townships named Salisbury have been asked for help. Here Mr Tom Dowty, a carpenter and joiner, holds a ravaged section of a tie beam from the North Triforium.
