Appointment of Proctors for Thomas Wickham, 1804
Date
2 May 1804
Quantity & Format
1 sheet
Description
A document signed by Thomas Wickham, appointing Edward Moore, James Evans and Edmund Benson "my true and lawful Proctors jointly and severally" to "exhibit" to the Dean and Chapter the Letters Mandatory relating to his induction and installation into the Prebend of Beminster Secunda, and in obtaining for him "the real actual and corporal Possession of the said Prebend".
Signed by Thomas Wickham. Witnessed by Abraham Spivey of Almondbury, Yorkshire, and by Richard Jackson of Kirkburton, Yorkshire.
Thomas Wickham, while granted the Prebend of Beminster secunda in 1804, was Vicar of Kirkburton from 1793 until 1815, so the appointment of proctors was presumably signed in Yorkshire on 2 May, and Thomas Wickham was duly installed "by Proxy Mr Moore" in Salisbury on 24 May, as recorded in the endorsement on the mandate for installation (PR/BS/12).
