Description

Congé d'Élire of George III for the appointment of a Bishop of Salisbury following the death of John Douglas. A rather more restrained Congé d'Élire than some of this period, with elegant classical designs in the borders to three edges of the document and the royal coat of arms at the head. The seal is attached with intertwined gold and silver thread.
