Description

Congé d'Élire of George II for the appointment of a Bishop of Salisbury following the translation of Thomas Sherlock to London. A large and elaborate doccument with the royal coat of arms at the head and borders incorporating other crests and heraldic symbols, coronets, fruits and faces; the "G" of "George" encircles a portrait of George II. The seal is attached with interwoven gold and silver thread.
