Description

Congé d'Élire of George III for the appointment of a Bishop of Salisbury following the translation of Robert Hay Drummond to York, after only three months at Salisbury in 1761. The document includes ornamented capitals, the large initial "G" of "George" incorporating a head and shoulders portrait of George III, the royal crest, and elaborate heraldic decoration and other flourishes. The seal is attached with intertwined gold and silver thread.
