Description

Congé d'Élire of George II for the appointment of a Bishop of Salisbury following the translation of Benjamin Hoadly to Winchester. A large and elaborate doccument with the royal coat of arms at the head and borders incorporating other figurative and heraldic symbols, mythical creatures, birds and decorative flourishes; the "G" of "George" encircles a portrait of George II. The seal is attached with interwoven gold and silver thread.
