Description

Citation of the Dean (Thomas Greene) and Chapter addressed to forty-six Prebendaries and other dignitaries, requiring them to appear on Wednesday 20 August 1766 in the Chapter House for the purpose of "treating of the Election of a New Bishop and for the Electing a Bishop" following the death of John Thomas (II). Folded within the Citation is a separate small piece of contemporary paper, apparently in the hand of, and signed by, the Dean, which appears to record votes or proxy votes relating to Gregory Sharpe (Prebendary of Yetminster Secunda), James Sparrow (Prebendary of Beaminster Prima) and James Allen (Prebendary of Fordingham).
