Counterpart of indenture made between Robert Sherard Clerk and Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part and John Bartley of Tilshed or Tilshead in the county of Wiltshire farrier of the other part. The said Master and Dean and Chapter grant unto the said John Bartley their piece or parcel of ground containing about 7 or 8 lugg in Tilshead bounded with the Street on the north, on the south with the South Farm Close, on the west by Giles Alexander's tenement and on the east with John George's close. To have and to hold for and during the natural lives of Elizabeth Bartley wife of John Bartley aged about 25 years, Elizabeth Bartley their daughter aged about 2 years and Levi Baker of Tilshead labourer aged about 26 years and for and during the natural life of the longest liver of them. The annual rent was 6 pence on the Feast of St Michael. Sealed and delivered, being first stamped, in the presence of Thomas Frome.
