Description
Counterpart of indenture made between William Coxe Clerk and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part, and Elizabeth Palmer wife of James Palmer of Potterne in the county of Wiltshire yeoman the only child and heiress at law of John Bartley late of Tilshed or Tilshead farmer intestate deceased of the other part. The said Master and Dean and Chapter grant unto the said Elizabeth Palmer their piece or parcel of ground containing about 7 or 8 lugg in Tilshead bounded with the Street on the north, on the south with the South Farm Close, on the west by Giles Alexander's tenement and on the east with John George's Close which said piece or parcel of ground is now in the possession of the said Elizabeth Palmer. To have and to hold the said piece or parcel of ground with the appurtenances for and during the natural lives of Elizabeth Palmer age 47, Emma Elizabeth Glass age 5 years and Ann Eliza Glass age 7 years daughters of Moses Glass of Potterne innholder and Mary his wife. The annual rent was 6 pence at the Feast of St Michael. Sealed and delivered, being first stamped, in the presence of Joseph Goss. There are pencil annotations on the document. 'W[illiam] Boucher Esq[uire] New Street Sarum' is written on the back.
