Description
Counterpart of indenture made between William Coxe Clerk and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter owners and proprietors of the hereditaments hereinafter described of the one part and William Lawes of Tilshead in the county of Wiltshire yeoman of the other part. The said Master and Dean and Chapter grant unto the said William Lawes a messuage or tenement with the barns, stables, outhouse, garden and premises thereunto belonging together with the several pieces or parcels of arable and pasture land belonging to the same at Tilshead containing by estimation 93 acres or thereabouts formerly in the renting of Leonard Lawes (father of the said William Lawes) and now in the renting of the said William Lawes, together with all houses, outhouses, edifices, ways, paths, passages, sheep, leases, advantages, hereditaments and appurtenances (excepting all trees, woods and underwoods). To have and to hold for 12 years. The annual rent was £100 at the two usual feasts of the year in equal portions. Sealed and delivered, being first stamped, in the presence of William Hayward of Salisbury. 'Rent 1854 £75' is written in pencil on the front.
