Description

Indenture made between William Lisle Bowles Clerk and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part, and Isaac Noad of Tilshead in the county of Wiltshire millwright of the other part. The said Master and Dean and Chapter grant unto the said Isaac Noad their piece or parcel of ground containing about 7 or 8 lugg situated in Tilshed otherwise Tilshead bounded with the Street on the north, on the south with the South Farm Close, on the west by Giles Alexander's tenement and on the east with John George's Close which said piece or parcel of ground is now in the possession of Isaac Noad. To have and to hold for and during the natural lives of Emma Elizabeth Glass aged about 24, Ann Eliza Glass aged about 26 daughters of Moses Glass of Potterne yeoman and Mary Dowling Noad aged about 10 years daughter of Isaac Noad and for and during the natural life of the longest liver of them. The annual rent was 6 pence on the Feast of St Michael. Sealed and delivered by William Lisle Bowles being first stamped in the presence of James Hayward and William Hayward of the Close. There is a note on the back stating that on 7 Jan 1832 possession and seisin of the ground was taken by William Lawes, witnessed by James Compton and [John] Blake.
