Description
Copy of above (CO/CH/5/1/36/2). Release of property in Tilshead. Copy of indenture tripartite made between Dorothy Gey of Manchester in the county of Lancaster [Lancashire], widow, mother and guardian of Martha Gey daughter of Stephen Gey late of Whaley [Whalley] in the county of Lancashire clerk deceased of the first part, George Pigott of Manchester esquire, Robert Gartside of Prestwich in the county of Lancashire gent of the second part, and William Asheton [Assheton] of Prestwich Bachelor in Divinity of the third part. The said Dorothy Gey for and in consideration of a marriage intended shortly hereafter to be had between William Assheton and Martha Gey grants, releases and confirms unto the said George Pigott and Robert Gartside (now in actual possession by virtue of an indenture of bargain and sale dated 20 May) a capital messuage with the appurtenances within the town of Boulton [Bolton] near Bolland in the county of York commonly called the Overhouse of Fowden and also all edifices, buildings, houses, etc (there is a long list), and also that capital messuage and tenement with the appurtenances in Wishwall [?Wiswell] in the county of Lancashire and all the lands, tenements and hereditaments with the appurtenances, and also a messuage or tenement, two yards of land and premises with the appurtenances in Tilshed or Tilshead in the county of Wiltshire purchased of Robert late Lord Ciscell [Cecil], and also all that other messuage or tenement, two yards of land and premises with the appurtenances in Tilshead purchased of Francis Meriwether and William Shergold and also all and every other the messuages, tenements, lands, rents, revertions, services and hereditaments whatsoever with the appurtenances in the said counties of York, Lancashire and Wiltshire wherein Dorothy Gey has any estate of inheritance. To have and to hold unto the said George Pigott and Robert Gartside forever. Sealed, signed and delivered by Dorothy Gey in the presence of Edward Scott, Adam Garside and Peter Yeates.
