Description
Counterpart of indenture made between Edward Russell Bernard Clerk and Master or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part (the lessors) and John Nash of Tilshead in the county of Wiltshire farmer of the other part (the lessee). The lessors demise unto the lessee a messuage or tenement, farmhouse, outbuildings, land, premises and hereditaments at Tilshead late in the tenure of Richard Lewis Hussey as described in the schedule and plan annexed, with exceptions (given in detail). To hold for 1 year from 29 Sep 1892 at the annual rent of £56 by 4 equal quarterly payments, and also £50 for every acre and so in proportion for any less quantity of the meadow or pasture land which shall at any time be broken up or converted into tillage. Signed, sealed and delivered by John Nash in the presence of Frederick Edwards of Tilshead farmer. The premises leased here largely match those outlined in a 'Survey and Valuation of an Estate at Tilshead Wilts belonging to the Dean [and] Chapter of Salisbury' (catalogued under CO/CH/5/4/118).
