Description

This exercise book of notes appears to be details/copies of an account and notes originally made by Charles Robert Cockerell (1788-1863) architect to the Royal Academy with additional annotations by Christopher Wordsworth. Includes sculpture on the West Front, North Gate of the Close, Virtues and Vices (Chapter House), spandrel above the Chapter House entrance doors, and the Chapter House frieze. Wordsworth notes that 'A beautiful series of drawings, chiefly by Mr Alfred Stevens was produced by the Professor in illustration of this interesting subject (July 26th 1849)' published in Proceedings at a Meeting of the Archaeological Institute, Archaeology Journal vol vi p300. One section of pages loose.
