Description

Large bundle. Includes receipts and bills for: painter; work on the windows; salary due to the Chapter Clerk; bricklayer; plumber; painting and glazing; carpenter; stone mason; smith; salary to Master of the Choristers, Vicar of the Close and altarist; mops, brooms and brushes; work done to watercourses; bricklayer; rent; tuning the organ; charcoal; drapers (including material for covering organ); gratuities for laymen; winding the clock; work on the organ; candles; sexton's salary; binding, books, paper etc; grass seeds; bell rope, rope, twine etc; coke; constables' salary; coal; organist's fee; sexton's salary, with payment for burial of H.R.H. Princess Augusta (1840); gravel; salary to the Church Writer; moving rubbish from a grave; goods; matting, leather, restuffing chair; elms and planting; advertising in the Times and Morning Chronicle, paper, candles etc. Within the main bundle there was a separate bundle tied together with string (replaced with archival tape), which included some items held together by a paper sleeve. Also within the main bundle are two slips marked 'Dean & Chapter Accounts 1838. Paid,' and 'Bills to pay on 1838 [?Accounts].'
