Description

Inventories contained within other books and documents include (1) A fifteenth century manuscript book in the Cathedral library collection (MS148) containing on f15v-f19v a list of relics in the Cathedral's possession. A printed edition of this list can be found in Ceremonies and Processions of the Cathedral Church of Salisbury, Christopher Wordsworth, Cambridge 1901. (2) Inventory of St Osmund's gifts to Salisbury Cathedral circa 1078-1099 contained within the Register of the Canonisation of Saint Osmund (BS/1/5/1) fs 43 and 44 [listed in Ceremonies and Processions of the Cathedral Church of Salisbury Christopher Wordsworth, 1901 pages 183-84] (3) Register and Inventory of the Jewels and Riches belonging to the Cathedral Church of Sarum made by Master Thomas Robertson, treasurer of the same church in the year 1536 [listed in 'Antiquitates Sarisburienses: or The History and Antiquities of Old and New Sarum: collected from original records and early writers' 1777 pages 187-203, also listed in W Dodsworth 'An Historical Account of the Episcopal See and Cathedral Church of Sarum or Salisbury', 1814 pages 229-232: location of original document currently unknown]. (4) Thirteenth century inventory circa 1214-1222 recorded in The Register of St Osmund (FG/1/2) folios 83-85 [listed in Ceremonies and Processions of the Cathedral Church of Salisbury Christopher Wordsworth, 1901 pages 169-182]. Another inventory can be found on page 127 of Dean Pierce's Miscellanea, Volume 1 (FG/8/1/1) made in circa 1685 'An Inventorie of the Communion Plate and other choiest goods belonging to the Cathedral Church of Salisbury now in the keeping of the vestry-sexton Edward Gillo and his mother the widow Gillo on his behalf..'.
